I've only seen a jumbotron enhance the viewing experience one time, at the 2005 Fiesta Bowl. And that was only because no ads were allowed. (I'll try to ignore the unfortunate public service announcement that Weis made.)
At Oklahoma in 2012 it was loud, in your face, and a complete distraction. The worst was probably at Nebraska in 2001, where they called it 'HuskerVision'. One each giant screen in opposing corners of the stadium that amounted to a 3.5 hour VERY LOUD infomercial. It ruined an otherwise great atmosphere. (Never mind the ass kicking we received that day).
Now, riddle me this - how much confidence do you have in the bean counters that currently run ND to use it effectively?
