That doesn't mean they won't use the jumbotron for their own infomercials like when they trot different teams and organizations on the field during games though.
I work in marketing so the ads really don't both me since there would be no such thing as "free" internet content if it weren't for advertising. That said, every NFL game I've ever gone to has been enhanced by a jumbotron. For any Eagles home game I've been to, I make it a point to make sure I am in my seat in time for the Rocky montage mixed with Eagles highlights that happens right before kickoff.
That and the whole being able to see replays and knowing if/when I need to get really any at the official vs. really angry at the player/coach. I used to take a little MP3 player with a FM tuner into games just to listen to the play by play so that when there were replays I knew what was going on. Many times I'd have a bunch of people huddled around me when they heard I had the game radio to hear what was happening.
