Now with Coney deciding to stay can he get some praise for that? I mean it only seems fair that everytime somebody decides to leave, people bash him to no end and refer to the program as a sinking ship, kelly cant do this or that, or nobody wants to be around him. But now that he talked him into staying, which for the record he does every year with a handful of kids who could go pro, why not give him credit for that? Or is this only a "i want to hate him" kind of thing. For as much as nobody wants to be around him, amazingly, i don't recall a single coach or player saying anything bad about him or the program after they were gone, with the exception of Malik (who is someone who obviously thought more of his talent than anyone at either ND or Florida). You would think, in this world where everyones opinion is apparently warranted, there would be at least a handful of players slamming him? And if you look it, every coach that left, with the exception of Elko, made moves that were hard to argue with. And for all the players that left, whether it be to transfer or go to the NFL, was generally the right choice. There are a handful of guys, maybe 1 every year or two, where your like, nah i don't think he should have gone (i.e. EQ this year). But generally its hard to argue with the decisions. And for the record, every major program has kids and coaches leave every year, we just don't hear about it because we don't follow the team. In fact, you NEED some people to transfer to make room for the new people. And putting kids into the NFL as juniors, is actually a good thing because it brings recognition to the program.
So if this is such a crappy ship, where is the outrage from the players and coaches? Or is just the fans who think ND should be undefeated every year and if their not, well it must be the coaches fault?
Anyway, nice job Kelly and staff for bringing these kids back.
