go after a project at rb to finish out the class. I would probably prefer to save the scholarship and go after 2 studs next year. My reasoning is that we may have that shifty scat back that we need right on the roster. As of now, Dexter Williams is the only rb with true home run speed on the roster so we need another back that can bring that to the table. We have the bruisers with Jones (although fairly quick) and incoming freshman Smith, so we need another quick athletic kid to fill that roll at least for 18’. Look no further than our skill position (wr/dB) players. Either a young player that wants to get on field or a player that could remake himself at a new position.
Lou was wonderful at this and to be honest Kelly isn’t shabby either. I believe we have a few players that received playing time at the rb position while in high school. Maybe someone like wr Jafar Armstrong or a safety (just some examples) could provide what we need. Also, don’t overlook a freshman like Tariq Bracey.
Now, out of the unsigned rb’s, if a pretty good back gives us a look then offer him but outside of that I say save the ship and look in house.
