It's a 4-game ban whether or not the games are consecutive. We're not dealing with a criminal sentence imposed by a court----indeed, many courts allow minor offenders out during the day to go to work, etc. so as not to penalize the offender's family. If there is a policy or written rule at ND that the ban must be for consecutive games, so be it. If not, there is room for discretion and equity. The effect on the player is the same whether or not the games are consecutive. I agree that the ban should not only be for "safe" games. This is a unique situation, however, and the sanction can be designed so as not to hurt ND (as opposed to the player) more than it has to.
