With Wimbush at QB inside the 5 yard line, there is almost zero threat of a pass. I like Wimbush, but he has consistently demonstrated:
1.) He has no “touch” on short passes
2.) He has really low accuracy when rolling out and throwing on the run.
3.) He “looks” uncomfortable under center to me the few times I have seen that. Book seems unfazed under center.
Wimbush is like a home run hitter in baseball that strikes out a lot. I think Book is just a better bet when you only need a few yards in tight quarters. (Continuing my analogy—it’s like when you need a contact hitter to just get a single or move the runners.)
Wimbush’s greatest asset—the “threat” of him breaking off a 50 yard run—does not exist in the blue zone.
