Normally, I wouldn't be spending a lot of time on last week's game at mid-week, but within an hour after our huge win last week as I'm driving out of South Bend, the commentators on my favorite post-game ND show are talking extensively about VTU. What ever happened with the 24 hour rule? It works both ways.Party hard until Sunday p.m. and then turn the page. There's plenty of time this week to digest a dangerous opponent in a dangerous venue, without having to forfeit celebration over one of our great wins in recent years.
VTU can bite our ass if we overlook them. But this is a team who gave up 495 yds passing to OD, and over 300 yds to an overrated Duke team.Eleven teams in recent years, many of them unrated, have gone into Lane Stadium and beaten the Hokies. In retrospect, Kelly's decision this summer to practice "Chaos" was visionary. While I respect VTU and its fans (many of whom traveled to our place recently), our Irish match up well, including the speed department. I hear our team has been mindful of this game for some time without overlooking earlier opponents, and looks forward to going into a legendary venue to meet a worthy foe and show our stuff.
