Can we get an intelligent answer why a head coach ignores special teams play?

There are two theories in coaching on special teams

Finke did all right last night and he is dependable, of course he is no Rocket, who made our special

THEISMANCARR

Other issues too

Dinglewood

This makes it sound mutually exclusive, I believe you can have both.

Neil’s point two clarifies.

ST has cost us important style point wins against UM, Pitt, and NW.

Cheeks makes an interesting point, though, regarding Syracuse/Clemson.

Get use to it.

Yeah, only our record is perfect.

Kelly has never had a perfect record at season’s end. ST needs to improve to affect that.

How would have better ST play given us a 13-0 2012 record?

Myopic point of view. We were blown out and humiliated.

I asked you how ST play kept ND from being undefeated in 2012...
-
ripperduck
- 10:55pm 11/4/18
So special teams have no effect on National Championships?

Nobody is claiming that.

Take it to the top of page.

We would have ran all those Alabama kickoffs back for TDs.

Of course !

No rational excuse. Clearly our worst team efficiency.

Per S&P, Notre Dame is 27th in offense, 3rd in defense, 64th in special teams. It's not good.

Please provide conclusive evidence supporting your assumption.

Only this board can convince itself that ND like Bama and Clemson don't need better special teams
-
PBHangingChad
- 11:51am 11/4/18
Agreed. How can practicing blocking punts or field goals possibly help us?

Probably because there is limited practice time and it really doesn't matter that much.
-
iairishcheeks
- 10:52am 11/4/18
Could it be that Bama and Clemson rarely punt or kick field goals? What a concept. Haha
[NT]
-
PBHangingChad
- 11:26am 11/4/18
Going into yesterday, ND had punted 32 times this season while Clemson had punted 34 times.

iairishcheeks

I'm more positive now after the facts we can beat Bama and Clemson since their special teams suck
[NT]
-
PBHangingChad
- 11:53am 11/4/18
Syracuse has the #1 ST, they still couldn't beat Clemson which was down to it's 3rd string QB.
-
iairishcheeks
- 12:10pm 11/4/18
That 3rd string QB for Clemson may in fact be the best QB in the nation.

Uh . . . NO.

Uh .... Yes - Trevor Lawrence is a really talented QB.

Why not just admit you were wrong?
-
iairishcheeks
- 1:54pm 11/4/18
Lawrence was knocked out of the 'Cuse game. Chase Brice was the "third team" QB in cheek's post.

Jimb — sorry if my “NO” post seemed snarky.

If you inject too many facts and too much data into it, it is harder to bitch about being 9-0.
-

It's maddening. Kelly clearly has a blind spot here.

I have been asking this since Kelly took over? It borders on incompetence.
