Even if LSU puts it all together down the stretch and by "eye test" looks like the best team in the nation at season's end, nobody would say "put them ahead of 'Bama because we feel they are better right now." The season has to mean something. And, yes, record doesn't mean everything. Teams don't play identical schedules. And head-to-head isn't always the bottom line. But jumping an undefeated team that you lost to is unjustifiable. Even if you think that team would win if they played today. Hell, let's say everyone is right that ND would beat 'Bama only 1 time in 10. If ND got it's "one time" win in the NC game, would we consider keeping 'Bama ahead of them because we think 'Bama would win a rematch? I hope not. If we're to the point where the games played don't matter, pull the plug.
