Florida State? Virginia Tech? Nope
ND has always had speed. As much as any but they dont play fast! The defense is coached to play tight man to man with the LBs going berserk blitzing...Instead they play zone and read and the LBs play the medium zone and sometime brings pressure but nothing SEC or ACC schools. Even when ND has had LBs that can run...they dont blitz. Jaylon left ND with how many sacks? 4.5 career sacks at ND...he's got 4 sacks this year for the Cowboys. ND has had tons of HS track champions and freakish size/speed front 7 guys...but you hear of all this talk about Bama's speed. You konw how many Bama LBs were tops in the 40 for Linebackers the last 4-5yrs...1..and he ran a 4.69. Boston College had the fastest LB in 2014 anyone know who it was? Of course not...cause BC isn't known for playing fast either. Now...LSU had a few more fast LBs in the Top 10...how has ND done against their speed?? Exactly...
ND has played Georgia and had no issues with their speed...and I hold to this day..if Dexter got 4,5 carries in that game...that 1pt difference is erased.
Now...would I wish I'd see more from BK...is using the speed ND has to one...force teams to adjust but to also rid this idiotic stigma from the team..because it does affect rankings and recrutings if folks think youre slow. So track champions Armstrong, Lenzy should get more touches...Pride should get touches on offense...dont gimme this saving him crap...you see what Jabrill Peppers did for UM...you remember Tyrann Mathieu for LSU...and lets not forget how much Adoree Jackson torched ND. And guess what..Pride's 100m and 200m times in HS were faster than Jackson and Pride's collegiate 60m was faster as well. And Pride touch the ball a lot in HS...so why play so conservative...that's what Kelly does. While other schools including the Georgias, Bamas, Oklahomas, Auburn...are playing elite athletic frosh players...a player ND scratched and clawed for in Lenzy...who ND lost to Oregon for a sec...hasn't touched the ball at all??? You think that would've happened at Oregon? ND snatches a player like Lawrence Keys out of Louisiana...not one touch? This is the problem. ND needs to show its speed more...affect the opposing D and change the narrative both on and off the field. What Dexter Williams has done for this offense since his first freaking touch is evidence of this enough. Maybe Kelly changes that up more today and beyond....
