If, and that is a big if, he has a chance of moving into the first round with one more year in college, then it might be worth it. There is an equal chance that this year might be his high point and another year in college will just expose him to both injury and/or a performance in 2019 worse than he's had in 2018.
In 2018, 6 dbs were taken. That is probably about the norm over time. Does Love, or the people who are giving him feedback, think he can get into the top 6 dbs (more likely top 4 CBs because Love doesn't really have a safety's game) with one more year in college. The issue with Love is that his size/speed points to a slot cornerback that doesn't usually transfer into being universally viewed as a top 3 /4 picks as a cb. He isn't a safety which means, at best, he would be maybe the 6th db off the board. probably in any year. He is likely a 2nd round pick this year and an outside chance of slipping into the 1st round next year. The problem is the "hot" role in the NFL is a db/lb hybrid who plays like Jabril Peppers: big enough and fast enough to take on the new breed of receiving TEs. He doesn't fit that position. There is a good chance that a pure safety as well as a db/lb hybrid with be taken as well as at least 3 cbs taken ahead of Love, both this year and next.
While the short term money is better if you are taken in the first round, you get to the real payoff a year sooner. You are also getting paid in 2019 versus waiting until 2020 to get paid. If it is an economic decision, he goes because I don't think his draft position is going to improve economically with one more year in college.
