Nobody wants to work there. Firing a guy after one year with a rookie qb doesn't make it a place people in the NFL want to work.
Same thing going on in reverse with Josh McDaniels. After he walked away from the Colts last year and the fact that nobody in Belichick's coaching tree has had much success (yet for the two newly minted ones), nobody wants him. Word out of GB is that he was not very "flexible." So, as is typical for guys who have been not been successful in head coaching searches, he takes himself out of the picture. I would bet that most GMs assume that he will want to run back to NE the minute Belichick retires.
