Safety was considered a weakness going into 2018, so that was part of it. Gilman lived up to billing, and Elliot really stepped up. So that's probably the biggest factor. I don't think anyone thought of Allen as a nickel option. Houston Griffith was the another freshman that people thought might get considerable playing time. He did play quite a bit, but I don't remember seeing much of him down the stretch. My belief on Bracy is that we saw a lot of him against USC partly because the staff wanted to really see what he could do . . . especially in case Vaughn wasn't 100%. He struggled some against the Trojans. Don't know if that is why he didn't play against Clemson or not.
