Everyone should have expected UL to be effective moving the ball in the 1st quarter. They have a new coach, new scheme and there was no film on Louisville. It’s simply going to take a few series to get things adjusted. Also, there were simple mistakes that just happen in game 1 of any season (for almost every top 25 team). The two offsides penalties alone may have cost us 14 points. There were also the missed tackles I generally expect in the first couple of games.
Probably close to 50% of Louisville’s yards came in the first two series. After that, we had them completely shut down. If we don’t clean things up against New Mexico, maybe I’ll be concerned. But not now.
Book and the offense....that’s a different story.
