Okay, its about time that the Notre Dame administration... and all the "Kelly apologists" I've been seeing on this post for 10 years... get serious about what is going on here.
Kelly has had ten years to develop a decent program... one that plays with heart and consistency, but he has failed, year, after year, after year. Kelly is NOT... repeat, NOT... a top level coach. He never has the team ready to play a big game, or a rivalry game. He has proven that in 2012 against Alabama, last year against Clemson, and certainly last night against Michigan.
If anyone can look at those three games and tell me they could discern a "game plan" then you're either a football genius, or a total idiot because a game plan consists of more than "run left without a lead blocker, run right without a lead blocker, long pass to the flat without a lead blocker." THAT is not a "game plan," that is a recipe for disaster... as Kelly has proven time and time again.
And if Kelly's lack of offense is offensive... what in God's name can you say about a defense that has never heard of "tackle at the KNEES." Kelly's defenses do nothing but try upper-body arm tackles and, of course, the ball carrier easily gets away from that every time.
In short, Kelly's coaching is extremely short on plain, old fashioned, basic football skills. And if a coach cannot teach talented, intelligent young men the basics like "tackling at the knees," then that coach is tenth-rate, at best.
And save your breath all you Kelly apologists. Ten years of listening to you make every excuse in the book for Kelly's lousy coaching is over. The man has no ability to coach... AT ALL! PERIOD!!!
Time to dump Kelly, and Swarbrick, too, and get this program back on track!!!
