Tim Prister just said on " Fighting Irish Preview " that if he had to predict a player of the game against Stanford, it would be Braden Lenzy. Stanford is giving up 281 passing yards a game, they're using a lot of freshmen DBs, and as Prister said, there are a lot of wide open spaces in the secondary's coverage.
Prister is an ND alum who has been covering ND football for 38 years. He states the obvious; however, our head coach doesn't get it. He doesn't get it because his ego is in the way. He babbles on about Lenzy being " fatigued ", about not putting enough into the " trust bank", etc. In reality, Kelly has put Lenzy into his doghouse and doesn't want to let him out.
Disabuse yourself of the " man crush " narrative. It's about playing a highly talented player who has scored an incredible 4 touchdowns in just 14 touches. It's about the denial of common sense by a coach whose stubborn ego won't allow it.
