for the ball, find the ball, and put a hand between the WRs hands as they catch. This seems like the basics, but was NEVER done prior to Lyght coming to ND.
For whatever reason ND has been TERRIBLE in the overall CB play and development. Maybe since maybe the early 90s? We've had a good guy here or there and a few one-hit wonders sprinkled in, but I do agree and I'm also confused about how poor the overall position has been relative to its importance. Especially in the Spread based world where all offenses throw it 35-50x a game.
I would love to see the next DB coach take it to the next level and develop 3 to 4 competent corners with at least 2 that are lockdown, or close to it. Something has been off in this department for the better part of 20 years. Again, there has been vast improvement since Lyght showed up, but he's now gone.
