"The decision was based on a competitive analysis which determined that Ohio State would have advanced to the Big Ten Football Championship Game based on its undefeated record and head-to-head victory over Indiana regardless of a win or loss against Michigan."
Why stop there? They should have just assumed prior to the season, based on a similar 'competitive analysis', that OSU would have advanced to the championship game by beating all scheduled opponents. If playing one game is irrelevant and agreed-upon rules can simply be adjusted at whim, why force OSU to play any games? Just let them rest up until the playoff. I'll bet Indiana is enthusiastic about this decision by the conference.
