The position was originally designed by the NCAA for up-and-coming trainees (former players, etc) and to increase coaching diversity. These are typically low paid jobs. Leave it to the SEC to pollute that effort.
I think Alabama is the only team that consistently acquires the sheer number and type of the guys that they do. They are really are a one off in that regard.
