Grayson was a draft “riser” that year, and nobody was surprised he went in Rd 3. He’s probably a good comp for Book/Saints. They invested in a guy perceived to have starter potential, but appeared to have backup qualities as a “floor.” Grayson obviously didn’t pan out.
To be clear: I’m talking about how NO views him, not how I think Book will do. He very well might go the way of Grayson in his career. But I don’t think the Saints invest in him in Rd 4 if they view his ceiling as “potential backup” — that’s my point. I’ll personally be surprised if Book thrives in the NFL. Hope to be wrong.
