Bob Davie mortgaged the farm trying to get CJ Leak to commit, including stopping the recruiting for all of the other QB's in that class, as well as promising not to recruit another QB in the next class. Unfortunately, Wake Forest had upped the offer, dropping the recruitment of all QB's that year, promising not to recruit any more QB's for the next two years, and promising him the starting job right of the bat.
There were several good QB's in that class of 1999 who would have been happy to come here, and it ended up killing us in 2000, 2001, and arguably, 2002, especially after Arnaz Battle broke his wrist in the Texas A&M game in 2000 (week before Nebraska).
The sad thing is, that we would have actually matched up much better against Oklahoma that year, than we did against Oregon State.
If a QB is such a prima donna that he demands that kind of a price for his recruitment, then he's more likely than not to be a bad fit here. From what I can see, Dante Moore isn't the type of player who would get rattled at another blue chip QB in the next year's class being committed.
