Right now, Stanford of 1990 has the edge. That game was winnable every step of the way, and by all rights, should have been a blowout.
Rocket got hit with a deep thigh bruise, and was out for the game, but we were still racking up points, and defense was holding well enough to force some punts. Tommy Vardell shouldn't have had those opportunities to punch in those multiple touchdowns in the first place.
Two fumbled punts by Ricky Watters and one by Adrian Jarrell became TD scoring drives for Stanford, and not to mention, we were all but unstoppable on offense with our ground game. So many opportunities lost...
Then, the dropped pass by Derek Brown in the end zone as time expired, was a real killer. That pass was very well thrown, and right at his big hands, but it passed through like a basketball swishing through the net.
