Rees actually called a decent game today, instead of relying on his WWBKD mode of operation. There were several straight-ahead, hard charging runs, especially by Estime, that we hadn't seen in the past. Those run plays would have been delayed handoffs 5 yards deep in previous games.
Pyne played mostly a smart game, but missed many an obvious big time read. The play where he barely missed a wide-open Mayer actually had a wide open Lorenzo Styles streaking across the middle that would have been an easy TD. While that's not such a big deal against lesser opponents like Cal or UNC, when Clemson and USC come to play, he doesn't have that luxury.
Defense played well, except for three bone-headed plays. The 4th and 21 for a TD was especially terrible, since both Lewis and Watts were in a position to make a play.
