The defense isn't perfect as many of you have pointed out its flaws. But for all its flaws, it's performed pretty good. And if you watch other games, every other team has the same problems: missed tackles, players out of position, etc. Alabama gave up 52 points, for crying out loud. So defenses everywhere struggle in this age of offensive football.
Which brings up the obvious: Why can't ND join this parade? This falls squarely on Rees. If you want to blame Freeman for giving Rees autonomy, that's nothing more than Monday -morning quarterbacking of a decision that seemed reasonable at the time. But as for Rees, he calls plays the other team knows are coming. And to barely play Tobias Merriweather, when by all accounts he dominates practice and we saw a glimpse of that last night, is malpractice.
I think we've seen enough where I still believe the playcalling duties should be turned over to Gerad Parker for the rest of the year. Let Rees keep his OC title.
Finally, I'm tired of some (most?) of you already throwing the towel in on Freeman. You sound exactly like Clemson fans when Dabo was hired. I know I'm a broken record on that now, but good gosh, let him find a stride. And right now it's not obvious he can't.
