There are quite a few plays that would work beautifully, but our OC won't call them because of some phobia he has.
It would be a fantastic play on those short yard situations, and very easy to implement. With the tight end talent we have, we could easily use one of them as a H-Back as a lead blocker in those situations as well, something that was very well done with Tommy Tremble, I'd remind everyone.
How many times this season, did we have 3rd and less than 1 yard to go, or especially 4th and less than a yard, and he would call that slowly developing draw play from the shotgun?
Even with a slow-footed, less than athletic quarterback, you'll get that yard 90% of the time with a quarterback sneak, and I'd bet that number would be higher if he simply followed Jarrett Patterson.
Instead, we are absolutely horrible on converting those less than a yard situations. Throughout my years of watching Notre Dame football (ever since the 80's), I've gone from literally salivating on 3rd and 2 or less, to cringing in dread at those short yard situations.
