ESPNU replayed Wake @FSU.
My impressions from this one game:
command of the pocket is top notch (better than anyonewe've had since Quinn) and he manipulates the defense with his eyes very well, LOVE! the way he manages mesh point on RPOs (great guy for Buchner to study for a year), very good decision maker, field vision seems excellent (sees check downs, sees guys coming open before they're open instead of after, sees when he has nothing and pulls ball down to get most from play), accurate, very quick release, spreads the ball around well and doesn't lock onto guys, strong arm (not a cannon but can make all the throws, probably a peg below Coan in arm talent, but more consistent), a bit taller than Book and more sturdy not as tall or sturdy as Coan (but not a tree planted in cement either), not as fast as Book but a better overall passer, lateral guickness/escapability not on Books level but better than Pyne and light years above Coan (he's not going to make many free rushers miss and will take sack if no one is open), seems to be a pretty good runner going North/South (not a Buchner or Book runner, but better than Pyne and compared to the Coan Tree again light years.
Only Con on him from this game comes from only bad throw/decision I saw him make (which resulted in 1st down on 3rd and long) ball looked like a potential pick 6 coming out of his hand but WR made great play to go over top of DB. On replay, throw wasn't as bad as it looked because he placed it high over DBs head, but still a dangerous play in a tight game so he may be a little too confident in his arm and willing to throw some risky balls.
Overall I'd call him a bigger better throwing Book, who won't bail us out nearly as often with his feet but isn't an immobile liability either and is probably equal or a little better than Book in most areas.
Again, only based on this one viewing, if we can get him I'd be in favor.
