Leaving the system he’s in is smart if he has designs on being a pro. However, in his system he has thrown a gazillion INT’s, has an under 60% completion rate, would need to relearn a whole new system in order to play at ND. This would mean he doesn’t have a full playbook practiced most of the season, would slow down the rest of the offense in gaining control of their positions all the while relegating the team to another year of half an offense. Also, did the talented guys you already have on the team get better, gain more confidence, gain more game experience? No!
Meanwhile at Year’s end his eligibility is gone, he is gone and now the process start’s anew. You’ve lost one more year - you’ve lost the trust of future recruits all for the sake of, someone, some pundit, some sports agent said he’s gonna be great.
Projecting Hartman as a lights out QB at ND is just more of the same - wishful thinking, wishful imagination. Maybe it works out, more than likely it doesn’t.
Is he a quality QB? He certainly isn’t as physically gifted as TB or Angeli. Does he have better arm talent than those two? No he doesn’t.
The only thing he has over ND QB’s is game experience, the one thing TB and Angeli (and soon, Minchey) need but don’t yet have. The only way to get that experience is to play.
Buchner when he was doing well, he did it to a tee. He just beat a very talented South Carolina SEC team, a team that pummeled Tennessee and then beat Clemson.
Hartman will look good in a Georgia team jersey.
