Developed senior high star talent generally has a much better chance of seeing more playing time than undeveloped freshmen high star talent.
To put it this way, a school that treats the transfer portal as a feeding frenzy is going to chase away some talented freshmen or sophomores who wanted early playing time, and USC's haul of 20 transfer portal players last year certainly did exactly that.
There will be more from that Class of 2022 leaving, for certain, and with 10 transfer portal players from the class of 2023, that probably cemented Williams desire to leave, especially since they snagged Dorian Singer (talented, developed, experienced WR).
