This year's draft in particular showed that 5 star recruits produce championships. I see a lot of this commentary being aimed at excusing our woefully inadequate attempt at signing these types of players in any signifcant numbers or with any consistency. Obviously, 3 star players can bloom into championship caliber players. But the programs at the top consistently land championship caliber talent, and lots of it. 3 star players are needed and I hate seeing ignorant posts that disparage a kid due to his ranking, but there no way to get around the fact that those 5 star kids are integral to making serious runs at an NC.
