play calling was predictable for the most part. Or if the defense adjusted to Rees/Kelly, they struggled to adjust on the fly to counter the defense adjustments. This year and under Kelly/Rees, the slow developing run is puzzling as to why they keep doing it especially in short yardage. If you look at the ND lineman over the last 10 years or so, many of them have been drafted, and not only are they on rosters, they start and are among the best offensive lineman in the NFL. Over the last few years, the ND O line collectively as a unit has been considered elite. Yet, it’s feast or famine with runs and pass blocking. I still can’t get over how many ND runs get stuffed at the line of scrimmage or even in the backfield. I’ve often wondered if it’s scheme or coaching or a combination because considering how well these guys are doing in the NFL, you would think ND would have been able to run the ball down other teams throats over the years.
