At least with a broken bone, you know what the timeline is (and it's a very long timeline).
When it comes to soft tissue damage, there's so much in terms of uncertainty, and in Leonard's case, it could be a couple of weeks with no surgery (and back to full speed), or it could be 6 months with surgery.
