Mike Miller fumbling away the ball kept Michigan in that game.
The Stanford loss was where we weren't able to jump on a ball in the end zone for a TD, and instead, settled for a safety.
That would have put the game out of reach for Stanford, since they would have been forced to pass, and wouldn't have been able to rely on their ground game.
That being said, that Stanford team was pretty damned good, and Bill Walsh really turned around that program.
There was no doubt we were the best team by the year's end. Most of the Alabama faithful grudgingly agree that we would have pasted them in the Sugar Bowl.
