Knapp and Pendleton were frequently making bad choices on the zone blocking during running plays. For example, Pendleton deciding to block the already double-teamed nose tackle (Craig and Schrauth already had him smothered), instead of attacking the 3 point DT on a running play was a very poor decision that resulted in Jadarian Price getting clobbered on a running play. I was actually (pleasantly) surprised that he didn't fumble on that solid of a hit from a really stout DT.
To his credit, they grew up a whole lot, and did a much better job in 4Q, and yes, they did show a lot of courage and guts against what is easily the best defensive line we're going to face this season.
I'm simply being blunt here, that both Knapp and Pendleton are talented young players, but through no fault of their own, they were pushed into playing much earlier than what would have been optimal. Knapp needs some serious S&C, playing the most critical position in pass protection, especially when they change up the SDE and WDE on a passing play, or where an interior will stunt.
