Coaches the likes of Meyer, Nick Saban, etc., were all given total control over the football program, down to every last detail, and the university will essentially be hands-off.
The Board of Trustees at the University of Notre Dame will *never* cede that kind power to anyone.
While someone the likes of Saban proved that he can build a program, elevate it to greatness, and maintain that standard for a long time without getting into serious trouble, there's always the big fly in the ointment.
Urban Meyer is no Nick Saban. He's dirty, sleazy, and a snake oil salesman all wrapped into one, and like his previous two stops, would end up getting the program in serious trouble.
Unlike the other schools that vigorously fight those charges, we'd roll over and willingly take the gang beating that would come as a result.
