Harrison and Mitchell are more of WR3 or WR4 players at this point. Their production has been solid for those positions, but not spectacular. Neither are going to wrest the WR1 from Collins or the WR2 from Greathouse at this point.

Yes, I would have much rather had a healthy, 5th year senior Chris Tyree on this squad, since his potential would have been higher, and maybe this could have been the year, but given how his bad luck with that groin injury played out, he has basically been robbed of another opportunity to showcase a full season's worth of talent.

Still, given the QB situation, I'm guessing he wouldn't have had great production with Riley Leonard as the QB, and I doubt Coach Freeman would have moved him back to RB, since it's already quite crowded there in an excellent way.

  • In hindsight, pushing Tyree out for Harrison and Mitchell wasn’t a great trade in relative terms. - oldirish - 9:03am 11/10/24 (21) [View All]
    • Tyree never really found his niche at ND - D2 - 2:21pm 11/10/24
      • IMO he was misused..the switch to WR should have occurred much sooner. - Chrisb - 2:37pm 11/10/24
        • agree - D2 - 2:45pm 11/10/24
    • I don't believe Tyree was pushed out for one second...do you have anything supporting that? - Chrisb - 10:25am 11/10/24
      • I think everyone is getting a little touchy with the term "pushed out" and I agree with the point - oldirish - 11:27am 11/10/24
        • I'm sure you feel like those are good points, but it sounds even more made up now - Chrisb - 1:52pm 11/10/24
          • I'd be a lot more careful with those assertions. [NT] - oldirish - 7:53pm 11/10/24
            • I didn't make any assertion...I suggested an alternate possibility - Chrisb - 8:16am 11/11/24
          • Or he wasn’t pushed out at all, but they made no great effort to keep him for the 5th year either. - Frank L - 2:02pm 11/10/24
            • You get it. [NT] - oldirish - 7:44pm 11/10/24
            • Do we know what his Masters is in? ..any chance he wanted something ND doesn't offer? [NT] - Chrisb - 2:16pm 11/10/24
              • Dunno, possible. [NT] - Frank L - 2:33pm 11/10/24
    • Tyree wasn’t pushed out. You are making that up. [NT] - Hensou - 9:49am 11/10/24
      • see above. [NT] - oldirish - 11:27am 11/10/24

      • 100% we don't have a QB that benefits the WRs. In fairness Faison had the drops yesterday and has - oldirish - 11:28am 11/10/24
    • Tyree hasn't been healthy for most of this year - ndunabomber - 9:19am 11/10/24
      • I think we are saying the same thing. An injured Tyree on a far less talented team has delivered - oldirish - 11:30am 11/10/24
        • Agreed - ndunabomber - 12:42pm 11/10/24
    • Tyree wasn’t pushed out. He chose to leave after getting his degree. He had a spot if he wanted to - BaronVonZemo - 9:12am 11/10/24
