With Hebert coming in 2025, and Grubbs coming in 2026, we don't need any portal QB's.
The 2025's QB roster looks to be as deep and talented as any we have ever had since the golden era of the Holtz days.
From 1989-1992, we had quite a talented room.
Rice, Mirer, Kelchner (dismissed), McDougal, Hawkins (transferred out), and yes, even Paul Faila, who was a very much underrated QB.
Before anyone scoffs at the mentioning of BJ Hawkins, keep in mind, that guy was very talented, and a great athlete who could actually throw a pretty good pass. He knew he wasn't going to unseat Mirer, and transferred to Virginia, where he foolishly violated team rules, and got himself suspended during the year he could have started.
There was a game that Faila started, since Mirer was still shaking off the effects of a minor concussion, and the linemen all swore that having him back there as the QB felt exactly the same as if Mirer were there. I think he could have done a fantastic job if he were the QB in 1993, since his passing capabilities were better than McDougal's.
