1989's team played Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Pitt, Miami, USC, and Colorado, along with a pretty tough Air Force team (#17 when we battled them).

That Michigan State team was much better than their 8-4 record advertised. Their first three losses were to us, Michigan, and Miami, all of which were within one score. Also, that loss to a very good Illinois team (finished #10) was by 4 points.

The most frustrating thing about that season, though, was that we had the ball in Miami's red zone three times, and came away with only 3 points. That game was very much winnable, despite the circumstances.
