They were possibly on track for 3, as the Beck-led offense only scored 3 pts in 1st half in SEC championship. UGA was middle of the pack in SEC for total offense and 5th for scoring offense.
Things that probably would have been the same if Beck started.
1. Poor run-game. Second worse in SEC. Didn't get going this game.
2. WR drops. Worst in NCAA. The terrible wide open drop ended up not really mattering as that was UGA's sole TD drive.
3. General passing stats. Stockton completion percentage and yard/pass basically mirrored what Beck has done this season (62.5 vs 64.7) and (7.3/7.8). Beck's are better, but Stockton only played a top defense.
Things that might have been better.
1. Pass protection. Beck might have stopped a sack or 2 through audible and protection shifts. Key word might. None of Stockton's sacks were a result of the QB holding onto the ball for way too long. The strip sack just prior to the end of the first half took <3 seconds.
2. False starts. Stockton didn't do anything wrong, but backup QBs have different cadences than the starter, and this often breaks the O-line rhythm. Maybe 1 of the false starts don't happen.
Would Beck starting be worth 13 pts over Stockton? I don't think so. UGA fans have been grumbling about the offense all year.
