They weren't converting 4th and goal from that far out. The defense finally started to get stops.
3rd and 11 conversion will go down in infamy like the 4th and 9 Jarrett reception that made the Bush push possible. If we'd been down 5 and gotten that stop, our momentum was significant and it would have been a ballgame, especially if the Irish were only down 5 instead of 8.
