The meat and potatoes of the defense were still Kelly's guys - Mills, Cross, Kizer & Watts. Thats's a lot of talent and leadership. Defensive tackle recruiting has got to pick. Has to.The rest of the defense is loaded. Bowen is without a doubt the emotional leader. Notre Dame should never have this much trouble with WR & QB. Other than Greathouse no one has done anything. Minchey was basically a second choice behind Carr. Marcus had back to back years to get a Five Star QB and missed. Can Notre Dame get back to the Nationl Championship? Yes. But it only takes one team to have more talent. If the game turns into a shoot out Notre Dame has got to be able to win with one on one matchups. Denbrock will never have LSU talent but he needs to have more than he has now. Serious title run probably 2026.
