I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have lasted in the pros if he weren't up to the task.
Right now, he's the assistant director of college scouting for the Bills, and knows what's he looking for when it comes to talent.
He has always been a pretty smart fellow, and has a very good analytical mind.
I think he would do very well at ND, although I doubt he'd want to leave a nice job in the NFL. Word has it that a lot of NFL teams are eyeing him for a GM position.
On another note, I still get a laugh out of how he was adamantly boycotting the very first Electronic Arts college football game (Bill Walsh's College Football), angrily stating that they didn't make him good enough, even though he had excellent stats in that game.
