He was a very good nose tackle for us, but to be honest, he was at the lower end of size for a 3 technique (DT) tackle at the collegiate level. I know Al Golden had his reasons for putting people in that lineup last year, and I won't argue with his most excellent results. I simply thought that Rylie Mills would have been better at NT, and Cross at 3 technique tackle.
At the pro level, he's going to be smaller than just about any 3 technique tackle.
Since he was a six year senior, it's highly unlikely he's going to be able to pack on another 15-20 pounds and still keep his speed (decent, 4.96 time in the 40).
Anyone signing him (he's most likely a priority UDFA) is probably looking at him as either a spot reliever for the DT's, especially on passing downs, or looking to convert him to SDE, where his weight would be optimal, but his height limits him (most DE's are at least 6' 3" or taller).
I hope he proves everyone wrong, though, and thrives in the NFL. I'm pulling hard for him, given how he has busted his butt for us for the last 6 years.
