Now, I don't believe you can be a veer team or wishbone, but in the modern era, Alabama was able to reel in Amari Cooper, Julio Jones, Deandrew White before Lane Kiffin came in and made them a heavier passing team. The Chip Kelly squads at Oregon always had some studs at receiver, and never any 3,000-yard passers. Georgia's been a run-heavy offense forever, and they've had elite guys on the perimeter.
It mostly just comes down to having a system and a Q.B. that will translate to professional skills and allow you to execute some big plays. We haven't really demonstrated that to the degree that Ohio State and the other elite programs have in the last 5-10 seasons. It's part of the reason that Denbrock was throwing more than we'd maybe like early on last season.....they were discussing openly the coaches' room that we needed to get some recruits' eyeballs on our receivers doing some things in the passing game.
