Rocket was still hobbled by that deep thigh bruise from two weeks before, during that Stanford game. Recovering from that nasty of a deep thigh bruise takes at least 3 weeks, and closer to a month, before you're truly back at full speed.
The funny thing, though, is that Rocket at 90% of his max speed was still faster than anyone on the field, other than maybe a healthy Randall Hill on the other side, or Rod Smith, Clint Johnson, and Willie Clark on our side.
I remember during one of Lou's press conferences, he was "glumly" saying that Rocket might not be able to play for the Miami game. He had that same look on his face when several weeks before that, right before the Purdue game, he made some oddball claim that Purdue could be the third best team in the nation...
