When one truly looks at ND's run game stats going back a few years, they are poor. Many are skewed

by one or two long runs. True, those are still part of the run game, but a 98 yard run against IU isn't indicative of what we saw the rest of the game. So I have to ask is it poor development? Poor scheme? Recruits being over starred? I don't think ND has had a consistent, quality run game since Chip Long.

I'm an old-fashioned guy, but I've always been a fan of a strong running game opening up the passing game. Regardless of Saturday's results, a heavy reliance on short passes and bubble screens is not going to translate to many points on the board against good teams. I see the bubble screens as a tool to keep a defense honest not a core staple of the system.
