The steepest slope of the season's learning curve is from Week 1 to Week 2.

Someone made that observation years ago, and generally speaking, it seems accurate.

The first game of the season is often the first college game ever played by many of the players. It is the game experience itself which becomes the teacher.

Opening the season at Miami in high humidity on national television wasn't easy. But that game is done. Miami won.

11 more games to go. And a two week break to process the experience of many Irish players' first game/first start.

Coaching can play a big role in helping players improve going into the second game. We shall see on Saturday. Hopefully, the upward slope will be steep vs flat.
