availability of Fickell after Kelly's departure seems to have been providential.
Relatedly, the ramifications of the 2021 Cincinnati-ND game were big. If Freeman's defense had been able to stop the final Bearcats drive rather than collapse, giving the ND offense a chance to win the game, ND might have gone to the playoffs rather than Cincinnati, in which case Kelly might not have left, and if he did leave, Fickell would've been immediately availible. Badger fans probably thinking, if only.
