If not, my guess is they'd not be playing it, nor hired Ash. And this defense sure seems like a bend don't break. And they're certainly not running Golden's scheme, or style.
Tressel's defense was conservative, a "bend-but-don't-break" approach. He focused on minimizing mistakes, but the problem here is ND isn't even fundamentally sound defensively. So it's a poor man's Tressel ball.
