That's 11 teams, leaving only room for Notre Dame
Yes, I know Notre Dame is ranked ahead of Alabama...right now. I just don't see how the committee leaves them out for a second straight year, even though that's not supposed to factor in. But remember, we're talking a heavy SEC bias here.
If Texas beats Texas A&M, that well could leave the Irish out in the cold. That would give Texas a second good win. Now, I don't think the committee will, nor should they for the following reasons:
- Notre Dame's opening loss to Miami wasn't basically even with the same team or scheme we see now.
- Texas got crushed by Georgia, something I don't see happening to Notre Dame.
- Notre Dame's victory over Arkansas was much more impressive.
- Texas lost to a mediocre Florida; Notre Dame lost to two highly-ranked teams.
- Computer rankings all love the Irish, and supposedly they're unbiased.
