Conspiracy theory incoming

The conferences realize that the conference championship has no negative consequences to play in. Only positives like getting a team in that is on the outside looking in. Conferences get more money for every team that gets in.

This is going to create a clear incentive for teams like Texas A&M to sit players or play conservative at the end of the season when they’re undefeated. Texas Tech has no incentive to play starters in the big 12 championship game. It doesn’t matter if they lose because the committee has already said they won’t punish a loser of a conference championship. Therefore, another big 12 team gets in more money for the conference and fewer at large bids.

I honestly didn’t see this coming until yesterday. For all the money, keeping Notre Dame out gets more for the conferences. It won’t matter what the committee thinks is the best teams.
